When Madonna tore-up a photo of Joey Buttafuoco
On live TV. What was the point?

It was funny at the time but I liked the cold open more. Madonna with Phil Hartman as Bill Clinton and Jan Hooks as Hillary.

Its one hundred percent safe to say that nothing Madonna ever did ever had a point. She is the most pointless talent of the twentieth century. Which by the way, was the last time she was remotely relevant. I was a teenager in 2000 and we all thought she was very stupid and quite unattractive. Look at her now!? Grotesque. Free of talent and relevance. Some granny porn on Insta.

She was jealous of the attention Sinead O’Connor got for tearing up a picture of the Pope on SNL. She couldn’t stand that she didn’t think of it first.

Sinéad O'Connor, on SNL, October 1992.

Agree that Madonna was jealous of Sinead O'Connor being edgy and brave like that. Also, Sinead wasn't even trying to look beautiful, IMO, she just was beautiful. Sinead's voice is / was also a absolutely beautiful and a gift from God.
[quote] In October 1992, Sinead O'Connor became a polarizing figure when she destroyed a photo of Pope John Paul II on Saturday Night Live, following her stark a cappella performance of Bob Marley's War.
[quote] "Fight the real enemy," she spoke into the microphone, throwing the pieces of the photo toward the camera. She had changed Marley's song lyric from "racism" to "child abuse" to protest the abuse of children by the Catholic Church.

Dumb asses, did it ever occur to you that it was a joke written by the SNL writers and Madonna was asked to do it?

I hate many things about Madonna, but she was always funny in SNL. When she still had a sense of humor herself.

Madonna is a moron. She has the intelligence of processed cheese, but not as much flavour. Who could tell when she was being funny from when she was "singing?"

R9 She sure was. Sinead knew how to bring controversy AND bring awareness to a serious issue and Madonna couldn’t stand it. That’s why she had to mock it later on. She’s a a sad miserable cunt.

Who exactly is that, OP? Some kind of female performer from the past?

Madonna's controversies were vapid.

Buttafuoco's aunt and uncle beat him and got him hooked on dope when he was in grade school. Talk about abuse!

That was one of Madonna's prettier eras.

Is that guy in the video on crack and quaaludes? Madonna was trying to be funny. Not sympathetic. Nothing she has ever done to be intentionally funny has ever made me laugh.

Maybe Madonna was reacting because she is Catholic to her core, despite her dabbling in Kabbalah.
Wasn’t her 1993 SNL appearance also the day after “Body of Evidence” was released and absolutely destroyed by the critics? I always thought Madonna looked stressed and depressed during this appearance, from the bad reviews. This was also around the period of the “Sex” book, she was tanking publicly after being a media darling in the mid to late 80s.

She was so overexposed in the 90’s. You couldn’t get away from her.
